Citizens who were concerned about civilization's rampant destruction of birds and their habitats founded the Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania in early 1916. These citizens were birdwatchers. Today, birding is arguably the most popular hobby in the world. ASWP holds this heritage dear and continues to provide resources for the birders of the region.
