The Betty Abbott Excellence in Teaching Award
Presented annually, ASWP’s Betty Abbott Excellence in Teaching Award recognizes a classroom teacher in southwestern Pennsylvania who inspires students to become responsible stewards of the natural world through environmental education. One-page nominations are accepted throughout the year.

Beulah Frey Environmental Scholarship
ASWP awards one $2,500 scholarship to a graduating high school senior from our service area of Allegheny, Armstrong, Butler, Beaver, Fayette, Washington, and Westmoreland counties. Students who are applying to two or four-year colleges to further their studies in an environmentally-related field are eligible to apply. Applications are available beginning in January from this website or through your school’s guidance office. Download the 2025 application.
Application must be postmarked by April 25, 2025.

W. E. Clyde Todd Award
This long-standing annual award recognizes an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to conservation in Western Pennsylvania. Nominations are accepted at any time via letter.
